Switzerland

What can you expect from a trip that starts on a pink plane?
From my experience, plenty of fun and cheese.

Helvetic airlines is a low cost swiss airline that has pink Planes.
Switzerland was lots of fun. I went last weekend and visited some friends who live in Zurich. I arrived on friday and met up with Thomas who I stayed with for most of the weekend. He let me stay at his place which was very nice. Thomas's appartment is called the hell house, and you can do anything you want there. He lives with two other guys Benny, who is studying to become a teacher, and Nick (who I never met), and his beautiful girlfriend Daniela is there most of the time as well.
That evening another friend, Andreas, came over for the evening. We had a lovely dinner, typical swiss fondue, with plenty of cheese.
In this picture, Thomas and Benny while we were having dinner.

We basically hung out there that evening and most of the next day. Saturday night we went to a party with students from the ETH which was full of nerds, and I felt right at home (ETH is the technical university in Zurich for future engineers, physisists).

On sunday we went out and got some air. We walked around Zurich, went to see ETH up close. The building is very beautiful and it is high up on a hill, so there is also a great wiew. We walked along the river, saw the swiss national museum (from the outside), which was also very nice. Back at the hell house Daniela prepared another typical cheesy swiss dish Raclette, and Andreas came over once again. It was very good (it's hard to go wrong with cheese and potatoes). Then everyone was tired and fell asleep, so I did the same.
In Zurich, fountains are left on during the winter and they start to freeze over like this one.

Zurich; you can see ETH in the background up on the hill, its the widest building you can see. (desaplastar la cara de rebe!!)

Thomas, Daniela and Andreas after dinner (before falling asleep :)

I put the images through a compressing program and I think everyones face got compressed as well...

Monday was, for me, a very special day. Andreas took me to the mountains, which were beautiful and covered with snow (SNOW!!!!!!). We went swimming to a place with many different pools, at different teperatures. I think they were thermal pools, full of mierals. One of these pools was outside, and you had a view of the mountain. Andreas talked me into getting out of the pool, walking (in my bathing suit) over a patch of ice (ok, it was only one meter or less long but it was still frozen) just to get a view of the village. That was interesting.

After swimming we went to have dinner with Andy's parents. I had the best meal I have had in more than a month with them (Davo and I aren't doing bad with the cooking, but this was really good). I tried Deer for the first time. It was great. His parents were so nice. All my swiss friends seem to have amazing parents, because Thomas's parents were also really nice people (I met them a few years ago). I am so happy that I got to go to the mountains and see the snow (SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I have to go back for more...

Flims- this is the view in front of andreas's house (and the view from his balcony). It took my breath away (something so beautiful that it made ME speechless, can you imagine that??)

After Dinner we went just went back to Andreas's place. The next day we had to get up much too early. My plane left at 8am and I had to get a couple of trains to the airport. Andreas got up at 4:30 and drove me to the train station. He is either really nice or he really wanted to get rid of me :) I hope in my heart that he is just very kind.

I had a great time in swissland, and I am glad to have such nice smily swiss friends who are always welcome in my home (where ever that may be the next time we meet!).

Now you need to try any of the traditional deer-based dishes from Yucatán (Some of them even have cheese!). =)
